As I was sitting at home one day watching the raiders lose a disappointing game to Peyton Manning and the Colts, I was wondering who was the all time greats at there position for the Raiders. So here is my list of of all time Oakland Raiders.
Quarterback: 1st team: Ken "Snake" Stabler, this man was the definiton of a raider. Big arm, and a party attitude. I consider you a great Raider when you only get 4 hours of sleep before a Super Bowl. And you only got 4 hours becuase you were out partying the night before. And of coursehe won the game, but then again there was alot of games he probaly lost because of his lack of focus but none the less he is still the greatest QB we have had.
2nd team: Rich Gannon
3rd Team: Jim plunkett
Tailback: 1st team: Its a tie between Marcus Allen and Bo Jackson. Mainly because Bo only played four years but those four years were amazing. His break away speed and size made him one of the best and if injuries didnt get to him, he would prolly be one of the greatest all time. Even more amazing was that he was a two sport athlete. Al Davis was quoted in saying Bo would come in run a 90 yard touchdown then go in the parking lot and play a full gameof baseball. And his counter part Marcus Allen who was Bo's full back is the raiders all time rusher. And if your the raiders all time rusher you deserve to be on this list no matter if you went to the enemy. Even though he retired a Chief still in my heart he is tied for the best running back in
raider history.
2nd Team: Napoleon Kaufman
3rd Team: Darren Mcfadden( i know i know its still early but i really think this kid is gonna be great i really do, he has just got to stay healthy)
Wide Recievers: 1st team: Tim Brown.....2nd leading reciever of all time in the nfl. Enough said.
2nd Team: Fred Biletnikoff, even though alot of people say he is not that good because of stick em', in my eyes and what i have seen he didnt need it. It was totally psycological. Even Snake Stabler says he diodnt need it, it was all in his head.
3rd team: Cliff Branch the one thing that Al Davis loves is the deep ball and the deep ball is all branch did. Very rarely did you see him go short, but none the less the deep threat it what he was. One of the best recievers not in the hall of fame.
Tight Ends: Dave Casper.....Ghost to the post is all i have to say about that.
Offensive tackles: Lincoln Kennedy and Art Shell Both men were big and made a huge differnece in the running game. There were both mean as well. And Shell was part of the tandem that might be the best ever when it comes to guard tackle tandem.
Offensive Guards: Gene Upshaw and Robert Gallery. Gene Upshaw hall of famer enough said. Also a leader in the locker room as well as a leader in the players union. His death was untimly but his legacy will always live on in the NFL. Gallery in kind of a sentimental pick for me i like his talent and i like the way he looks the tattoos and the beard to me thats a Raider.
Center: Jim Otto. Mr. double zero, he was one of the first ever legendary Raiders and he made the raiders significant.
Defensive Ends: My defensive ends are Howie Long and Crazy man Lyle Alxado, there was no other force then those two on the ends, Long became a hall of famer and Alzado unfortunately died of brain cancer becasue of steroid use.
Defensive Tackles: John Matuszak and Cheaster Mcklockton
Linebackers: Ted Hendricks the mad stork, Matt Millen, Rod Martin, And Phil Viliapaino.
Cornerbacks: Willie Brown, Lester HAyes, and Nnamdi Asoughma
Safeties: Jack "the assasin" Tatum, George Atkinson
Kicker: Sabastian Janikowski
Punter: Ray Guy
